New Teacher Academy
On-site Mentoring for New Teachers and their In-District Mentors: A Guide to a Successful First Year
Throw out a lifeline to your first-year teachers and your new-to-content teachers! Ensure their chances at success and growth by providing a risk-free environment of on-going support. Teachers will work from the very beginning of the school year with a team of R3 specialists who will develop and provide a combination of professional development, follow-up mentoring and on-campus support.

Two Options Available
Traditional First-Year Teacher Academy
- 1-Jump-start coaching session prior to first day of school—Setting Up for Success (customized classroom management poster)
- 4-Individualized mentoring sessions (conference period) focused on the needs of the teacher with classroom observation and feedback during the fall semester *
- 2 free professional development sessions at Region 3
- Unlimited technical assistance via email, telephone, text, or virtual platform

Alternative Certification Teacher Academy
- 2 full-day sessions, focusing on effective instructional practices. Topics include the following:
- Prepare teachers for a confident, successful start to the school year
- Facilitate designing a well-organized and managed classroom, conducive to learning
- Prepare for effective instruction (T-TESS, lesson planning, differentiation)
- Learn to engage in effective communication with parents
- 6 individual coaching visits, including classroom observations, effective instructional practices, classroom design, and observation/feedback support during fall semester.*
- 4 focused professional learning opportunities including the following:
- Student support
- Formative assessment and data
- Student engagement
- Technology in the classroom
- Support for TEXES certification and alternative program
