Proclamations

 

The State Board of Education (SBOE) issues a proclamation to call for new instructional materials. The proclamation lists the subject areas scheduled for review. It contains a schedule of adoption procedures, requirements, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and instructions for providing electronic files for braille and large-type materials. Proclamations are named for the year the materials are available in the classroom.

Proclamation Information

  • The State Board of Education (SBOE) issued Proclamation 2024 at its April 2022 meeting to call for science, grades K–12; technology applications, grades K–8; Personal Financial Literacy and Economics; and several CTE courses.  The SBOE is scheduled to adopt materials for Proclamation 2024 in November 2023. The adopted materials will go into classrooms in the 2024–25 school year.

    Proclamation 2024 Pre-Adoption Samples

    The SBOE requires that all Proclamation 2024 pre-adoption samples of instructional materials submitted for adoption be available online.  Samples are only to be accessed for review purposes and may not be reproduced without the consent of the publisher. 

    Instructional materials pre-adoptiopn samples under Proclamation 2024 will be available on the TEA website.

  • The State Board of Education (SBOE) did not issue Proclamation 2023. You may see the SBOE’s discussion of this topic in the broadcast of the SBOE’s meeting. (Click item 5.)

  • The State Board of Education (SBOE) issued Proclamation 2022 at its April 2020 meeting. The adoption of materials under Proclamation 2022 were scheduled to occur in November 2021. The adopted materials were scheduled to go into classrooms in the 2022-23 school year. 

    Proclamation 2022 called for health and physical education instructional materials. 

    The SBOE required that all Proclamation 2022 pre-adoption samples of instructional materials submitted for adoption be made available to the public online. Samples are only to be accessed for review purposes and may not be reproduced without the consent of the publisher.
